This is my home page. This is the place to find trivia about me and
links to some of my writing. You can find more in my blogs.
Since 2005 I've been offering my thoughts on life, faith, and other stuff at it seems to me…. In 2008 I started a second blog, this blog considered harmful, where I discuss computer programming and related topics. And since this spring I have occasionally served up my attempts at pithy sayings and interesting links from the "microblogging" site Twitter, where I use the pseudonym @bruce_alderman.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched -- they must be felt with the heart. |
Daily quotes powered by Mads Søgaard's Quote of the Day Script. Many of the quotes were collected from The Quotations Page or Quoteland. I've received a number of quotes from individuals. Send email to bruce(at)brucealderman(dot)info if you've got one you'd like to see here.
I'm a writer. No, that's not my job title. I earn my living as a Programmer Analyst for the Johnson County Library in Overland Park, Kansas. My true vocation, though, is writing.
Planet Kansas, the newsletter of the Kansas Sierra Club, published my first article in December of 1999. The article was called Stopping Christmas Shopping, and featured fifteen tips for "winning the fight against holiday consumerism". It wasn't a very good article, but it was printed on real paper in a real publication. The reality was, I knew, that Planet Kansas would have taken just about any articles they could get. But seeing my own name in a byline filled me with a confidence I don't think I would have otherwise ever found.
My most recent published article is "Snowpocalypse" and Global Climate Change at Associated Content.
You might also have seen some of my work at Wikipedia, where I've been an editor since June of 2006.
I've got links to more of my stuff below.

I am a 1992 graduate of Bethany College. I enjoy reading, playing the piano, hiking, gardening, and playing chess. If you're a chess player, feel free to challenge me to a game at Red Hot Pawn. I play there under the username aardvark92.
Although I'm a lifelong Kansas resident for more than four decades, I have only once seen a tornado.
